Born in Sancti Spiritus, an educator by training and although without academic knowledge of music, Ivette Cepeda presents herself to us as an interpreter with excellent vocal qualities and a particular stamp. His beginnings as a soloist in 1991 were at the Neptuno-Triton tourist centers in Havana City. In 1994, he toured several African countries with the group Raíces Cubanas. From 1994 to 1998 he worked with the “Sello Cubano” quartet led by Orlando López “Cachao”, and at the inauguration of the Hotels: “Copacabana”, with a repertoire of more than 80 Brazilian songs; and “Melia Cohiba”, together with fellow teachers Frank Emilio and Tata Güines, recalling the group “Los Amigos”, founded by them in 1950 (seed of the Buenavista Social Club project). Between 1995 and 1998 he was part of the shows of the Grupo Manguaré group, “A Pleno Son” and “Lo Mejor de Cuba”, at the Carlos Marx Theater, with the orchestra of the Musical Theater of Havana, and directed by maestro Eduardo Valdes.
Ivette Cepeda is an artist who works with various musical genres such as son, bolero, jazz, bossa nova, song and the fusion between them; with a wide repertoire that covers the music of important composers such as Cole Porter, Gershin, Vinicius de Moraes, Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Agustín Lara, Rafael Hernández, Joaquín Sabina, Joan Manuel Serrat, Miguel Matamoros, Juan Formell, Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez, Vicente Feliú, Amaury Pérez Vidal, Orlando Vistel, Alberto Pujols, Niuska Miniet, Adiane Perera, Fernando Aramis, David Álvarez, Kelvis Ochoa, Raúl Torres, Lino Lores and others. From May to June 2009, he toured Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, together with the Reflexion group, appearing as a guest figure at the well-known "Festival Son de Cuba" that has been held in these countries for several years, sharing the stage with other Cuban musicians, like David Álvarez. During August, he presented his show “Sin Tu Permiso Sabina” in the Sala Abril of the Kart Marx Theater.
In 2010, he had an intense work program that included the National Tour of the “Estaciones” Concert, the release of the “Estaciones” album, and a tour of Europe. , Canada, Japan and Argentina.
